Day 10 - June 6
I finally slept well last night. Fell asleep easily and slept through the night. No Ativan. Woke up with a headache and feeling a little rough but it passed.
After breakfast at the hotel, we took a short ride to the town of Makur. Our hike for today started here. The first part of the hike was rocky and steep but not too bad. We went almost two miles and stopped at the Kotisina Museum. This was an old restored Fort. Very old. It had five floors and each floor was very small. It was interesting but I started feeling pretty claustrophic and was glad to get out after a while.
Our hike continued to the town of Tucepi - about another 2.5 miles. It was a beautiful hike through the mountains with the Spanish Broom in bloom everywhere. The smell permeated the whole hillside. In Tucepi, we had lunch. The restaurant opened just for us. The food was fabulous. I enjoyed it as much as anything I've eaten here.
After lunch, we headed back to Makarska. The rest of the afternoon is ours to spend how we like.
Matt and I crashed for a few minutes. Both of us are feeling exhausted. But we rallied, put on our suits and went out for a swim. The Adriatic Sea is so beautiful and the day is perfect. The water is cool but so nice.
After our swim, we showered and cleaned up and headed out to walk and walk and walk. We went into the Old Town and I got a latte. We walked all around the streets, repeating some several times. We eventually ended up on the other side of the Promenade and had dinner. Matt tried for a Scampi meal and I got Chicken Cordon Bleu. Neither were very good and we decided that we weren't really sure how to order here. But it was fun to be there and great to be together. Matt, as usual, felt compelled to finish my food and he was extraordinarily full. We headed out for yet more walking.
We finally got back to the hotel with another 20,000 step day. I wanted a gelato so we stopped at the hotel ice cream stand. We did a bit more walking while we shared our cone and then finally decided it was time to call this day over.
Tomorrow we leave for Dubrovnik.
