Day 14 - June 10
We got up at our normal 6:30 am hour and got packed. Went downstairs for one last breakfast and all I ate was yogurt and coffee. I didn't even do any bread this morning. I'm kind of done with all this overeating.
We caught our Uber to the airport at 9:00 am. Got there in plenty of time and the check in went smoothly. Ran in to some other members of our group at the airport and chatted a bit. Matt bought me one more coffee. I know spending money is painful for him but he spoils me anyway.
The plane was a bit late but we were finally on our way. Arriving in London, we figured out the train we needed to catch for our Air BnB. Bought tickets and off we went. We had to change trains once but everything went as Google said it should. We got off at Vauxhall and walked about .6 miles to our place, rolling our suitcases along the rough streets. I was glad to finally get to our place.
We didn't stay there long. Matt wanted to do as much as we could with what was left of the day. So off we went, walking of course.
I'm feeling weak and hungry by now and expressed the same. Matt said we would get some food right away but right away meant a lot of walking and a long time passing. I was somewhat distracted by the incredible London sights and sounds including Parliament, Big Ben, London Eye and all the PEOPLE EVERYWHERE. Wow.
Matt kept thinking the next block would have restaurants but by the time we finally stopped at a pub for some fish and chips, I was about ready to drop. I was completely exhausted and feeling weak. Additionally, my body is tired. My back hurts, my legs hurt, my knees hurt but my iron boy friend seems indestructible and I don't even dare admit how rough I feel.
Fortunately, after we ate, I bounced back a bit but I'm still so tired. We walked some more around downtown London. Went to Trafalgar Square and Covent Gardens. London is an experience. We bought an ice cream cone and shared it as we walked.
Finally walked back to our place at about 9 p.m. and I'm completely exhausted. Plan to sleep well and do this again tomorrow! Almost 20,000 steps today and most of them after arriving in London.
